Singapore Tops Inaugural Asia-Pacific Best Cities Ranking

Zen Chong

Singapore has been crowned the best city in the Asia-Pacific region in the inaugural ranking released by Resonance Consultancy on February 12, 2025, with Tokyo and Seoul securing second and third places respectively.

Key Metrics & Singapore’s Performance

The ranking evaluated 100 cities with populations exceeding one million across three core dimensions: Livability, Lovability, and Prosperity. Singapore’s strengths include:

1. Livability: Balanced performance in healthcare, unemployment rates, and housing affordability (Ranked 28th);

2. Lovability: High appeal for tourism, nightlife, and cultural attractions (Ranked 3rd);

3. Prosperity: Leading in airport connectivity, average wages, and corporate competitiveness (Ranked 5th).

Global Recognition & Regional Edge

Based on a survey of over 7,000 respondents from nine Asia-Pacific regions, Singapore received the highest nomination rates in categories such as “Top Cities to Live In,” “Top Travel Destinations,” and “Best Career Opportunities.” Christopher Fair, CEO of Resonance, highlighted that Singapore’s regional appeal stems from its alignment with residents’ aspirations, contrasting with Tokyo’s stronger recognition in global rankings influenced by Western perspectives.
